Mochi

15 NOVEMBER 2018

Purely Adoptions was informed of this poor Mochi (fondly named by Stray Feeder Sandy) this Monday.

Stray Feeder Sandy has been feeding the stray dogs in Sembawang but she stayed in Yishun. On monday when she was about to walk her dog below her block, she spotted an injured dog lying on the floor. She walked closer and was shocked to see the dog covered with blood. On closer look, she was aghast to see Mochi, the dog she has been feeding at Sembawang lying on the grass with a pool of blood. She quickly called her neighour Edgar to bring her to the clinic.

Mochi has indeed lost lot of blood and Edgar has to send her to Mt Pleasant at Gelanggang immediately. The vet quicky treated her wound and did a check on her. Apparently, she could have got herself into accident. But how did she travel from Sembawang to Yishun, nobody knows and she happened to be lying under stray feeder Sandy's block??!!

According to Vet, there is likely Hip Dislocation on one side and probably need 2 surgeries that could cost up to $10k plus. We are waiting for the surgeon to give us more info when he is back in duty. We did various blood test and X-ray. Poor Mochi is tested positive for Tick Fever.

Mochi is a very sweet and trusting girl. She will let any strangers touch her.

We need the public to help us in few areas:

1. Donations. Her bill is standing at $2,420.14 currently and it will escalate as days pass. We reckon she will stay at the clinic for few more days.

Latest update on Mochi:

Mochi's is coping well at the clinic and her blood count has started to stabilise. When she was admitted to the hospital almost 10 days ago, her blood count was 35%, dropped to 25% and then 22%. We were pretty worried then. She was also tested positive for Anaplasma. We had another round of blood test today and was glad to learn that the blood count went up to 32%. She is still not suitable for the hip dislocation operation (which could possibility cost more than $10k) at the moment. Her lower limb looks bad and the Vet suspect some tendons may be damaged.

We will discharge Mochi this coming friday and let her recuperate at Wong Ling Kennel before her next check up.

She has a great personality and we hope we can find a good home for her. We are surprised that she has a playmate at Sembawang area and many people are hoping someone can adopt both of them. If you know anyone who don't mind adopting 2 extremely friendly dogs (male and female), pls contact us at 90018848 (PurelyWoof)

We need the public to help us with her medical fee. Her bill was $2,420.14 as at 12/11/18 (10 days ago and it will be more when we discharge her on Fri)

Today Mochi went for her review with Dr Dennis. She is doing great!

Dr Dennis is a vet who I respect and he is always very patience with my many questions and takes time to explain and educate me in details. Highly appreciate!

History : Mochi a stray then in Nov 2018 and got into road accident. Her hip was dislocated and part of the hip bones had to be removed and joined back. Not only so, her lower limb ligaments were torn on the same leg.

Even after the injuries have fully healed, it will not be the same as before. Still she is young and she is already running fine even on 3! 😄😘

Thank you to Purely Adoptions PA who took over the case from her feeders and take care of her medical and housing needs. Do donate to help with Mochi's medical bills!

I was approached by PA if I can board her for wound management as it is not cheap to stay at the hospital. I agreed after I went over to assess her and the wounds. I must be able to handle her to manage such serious injuries.

I discharged her on 23 Nov 2018.

Mochi has been with me for a month and 10 days. I am very pleased with her recovery! The open wounds have fully healed. With daily physio, she has started to put down her injured leg and do some small steps even though it is still wobbly and weak😄 As Dr Dennis says, it will take months for her to use this leg again for this extent of injuries.

Anyone can sponsor hydrotherapy sessions ??? It will help greatly!

After review, I did leash training with her outside the hospital. She is still skittish with humans. Very good with all dogs. No aggression. Just a matter of time, she will make a good house dog! 😄

11 MARCH 2019

Remember sometime back we posted on Mochi who was injured and found by stray feeder Sandy near her void deck? She is healing very well at Wong Ling Kennel and start to be the popular girl with other dogs in the kennel. She is sociable and loves to go for walk. She is also considered medium size and is HDB approved. To adopt her, pls contact 90018848 (PurelyWoof). Pls share the post so she can find her forever home soon.

23 MARCH 2019

Late Nov 2018 I took in a Hit-n-run case under Purely Adoptions. Badly injured on the hip and leg. Never have I thought I would adopt her a year later 😆

Very fond of her because of her craziness ... she belongs to the 'category' who will be happiest with a big garden and dog companions, if not she has to be in daycare with playmates. So I decide to adopt her and make her my kennel manager 🤣🤣🤣

She has recovered very well, only slight limp when she overuse her legs 🤦‍♀️🤣 Oh ya, thank you Purely Adoptions for giving my gal a new lease of life! ❤🥰

6 MAY 2020

Remember in 2018 we rescued an injured dog Mochi who followed her stray feeder home (https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10156017926971295&id=6741511294)? She is now happily adopted by Wong Ling who can't bear to let her go after taking care of her for the past 1 year plus. We have brought Mochi to adoption drive, hoping to find a home for her however she got scared of the crowd and we decided to bring her back to the Kennel immediately. That is Mochi's first and last adoption drive. Wong Ling decided to rehab her and surprisingly, Mochi listen to Wong Ling like an obedient child. Apart from that, Mochi will always stay close to Wong Ling, keeping her company. Those gestures warm Wong Ling's heart and she told us she will take care of Mochi forever. Its definitely a "Yes" from us 😊 For those who know Wong Ling will know she is a very good animal owner, be it dogs or cats. Her heart will always go out to all the strays out there. Its a happy ending and we love Mochi smile in the photos.

1 AUGUST 2020

The Transformation of my gal Mochi Wong from an untouchable stray with her puppies to a happy gal now !

She was TNR with her brother and released back by SOSD. Her puppies are successfully rehomed.

Then she met an accident and Purely Adoptions took the case and she came to me as a medical and rehab/rehome case.

After seeing she is very happy to play with all the dogs that come for boarding, I adopted her and appoint her as our therapy dog to help newly rescued dogs settle in a new environment. She has done her job well!
