Dog And Cat Bonding

Preparing for Adoption

A simple checklist to help you get ready before your new pet arrives

A calm start makes all the difference

Cats and dogs settle best when the home is quiet and predictable. This guide helps you prepare the basics before your new companion arrives, so you both start on the right foot.

What to Expect

Time

Daily feeding, care, and attention every day

Space

A safe, secure area to help your pet settle in

Budget

Food, supplies, vet care, and emergencies

Patience

Some pets need time to adjust. Let trust build naturally

Before They Come Home: Licensing

In Singapore, all dogs and cats must be licensed through AVS (NParks). You will need your pet's microchip number, and first-time owners must complete a short online Pet Ownership Course. Good news: because our rescues are sterilised local mixed-breeds adopted from a registered rehoming partner, you may qualify for a reduced licence fee. Apply easily online at pals.avs.gov.sg.
